DOGHOUSE

NEWS UPDATE - FEBRUARY 2008

"Rumours of our demise are greatly, GREATLY exaggerated..."

Welcome to the first DOGHOUSE update of 2008!! We're sorry we've been away for so long.

The band would like to take this opportunity to put the record straight. We have NEVER split up – all we have done is taken some time out and replaced our bass player. We’d like to offer a brief explanation...

Just before Christmas 2006, Andy decided he needed some time off from band commitments. At first it wasn’t clear whether Andy wanted to leave the band or not, but after many conversations and a few long chats over many beers the band decided to take a year out from the regular rehearsal and song writing schedule, and to concentrate on the gigs we already had in the diary. As it was, a string of bad luck and ‘other commitments’ meant that some gigs had to be pulled, and we really regret that. Now, however, we have a new kick-ass bass player in place, we have the set rehearsed again, we have a gig under our belts and we are back out on the road. New material is in the pipeline (covers and original). We have put a light gig schedule in the diary for this year (see the updated gig dates page), with one major bike rally in the pipeline (Anglesey bike show, headlining Friday 22 August).

While the band were deciding how we would take things forward early in 2007, Robin decided to wind the clock back a few years and revive his former (very short) Glam Rock career by stepping in to help out the excellent, Wirral-based Glam Rock tribute band Kookachoo. That ‘helping out’ led to Robin becoming an established member of Kookachoo. Robin decided that he didn’t want to split his loyalties so he decided at the end of last year to leave the band. We thank him for his efforts while he was with us, and we wish him well in his new musical endeavours.

This means that we now have a NEW BASS PLAYER. Well, not strictly new, as Pipe was the DOGHOUSE bass player before Robin joined the band. It's good to have Pipe on board, and we've got the set rehearsed and a gig under our belts with him in place. Here's to many more, so welcome back Pipe!

To all our regular listeners, we’re sorry if we’ve missed you for a while, but thanks for your continued support. We all hope to see you at a gig soon.
